PHILOSOPHY:

IFA believes that every individual with Autism deserves access to resources to aid in reaching their full potential. We offer education and support in finding those resources to promote better quality of life for families living with Autism.

MISSION:

Children living with Autism do well when their families are empowered with the skills and confidence to tackle difficult situations. Furthermore, it creates a productive and loving environment for the family to grow together. It is our mission to help address not only the needs of the these special children, but to equally address the needs of families and their challenges as well.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER:

Indians Fighting Autism was founded in 2006 by Smita Bhatt, M.D. It was originally started in an effort to find other families to discuss issues in relation to Autism. As it grew, IFA began to address issues surrounding Autism particularly for the Indo-Pak community. IFA works to help address the psychosocial challenges and culturally sensitive issues of the family system. It also focuses to promote social support among community members. The founder of IFA, Smita Bhatt, M.D., is an experienced professional and the mother of two autistic sons. Dr. Bhatt, currently a Psychiatry Resident in New York, has a long work history both with autistic children and in the mental health field.
